It’s a symptom of just how virulent the term ‘instant classic’ has become that, despite my editorial distaste for it, this stealthy oxymoron has found its way into the Wears The Trousers lexicon three times since our first issue. One point seven million Google hits can’t be wrong, you might counter, but my mind’s made up: there’s no such thing. The status of classic is the ultimate reward of endurance and everlasting value. Stephanie Hladowski’s debut solo release, The High High Nest, probably won’t turn out to be a classic but it is nonetheless a thing of wondrous intent and spectral resonance.
