trouser shorts: sugababes, the weepies and more

We don’t know what’s more surprising: that the Sugababes have managed to record another album without losing any more members, that their new single is essentially a souped-up, lyrically-altered cover of Ernie K Doe’s funky ‘Here Come The Girls’, as used in the Boots ad from last Christmas, or that it was co-written by one of the new Pipettes. It doesn’t matter though, because it’s all in the name of a good cause. Proceeds from sales of the single will be contributed to the White Ribbon Alliance, a charity that helps prevent the deaths of women from pregnancy and childbirth in developing countries. ‘Girls’ is out on October 6th, followed by the album on October 20th. The Weepies have announced the winner of their $10,000 competition to create a video for the title track of their third album, Hideaway. The winning video is this cute little animation by Michael Warner:
