Anglo–Icelandic relations may be slightly strained of late (on account of them losing millions upon millions of our shiny English pounds), but glamorous Icelandic singer Thorunn Antonia is still very much a part of homegrown indie rockers Fields, who release their eagerly anticipated second album Hollow Mountains (so that’s where they’ve been hiding all our cash) in March next year. Phew!
In fact, you won’t even have to wait that long to reacquaint yourselves with the band’s anthemic brand of guitar pop as they’ve got a new single coming out on December 1st. Recorded on GarageBand, produced by guitarist/co-vocalist Nick Peill and mixed in New York by Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, The Walkmen), ‘Are You Ready Yet?’ first surfaced back in July alongside another new track, ‘Worst Love’, and proved to be a suitably energetic guitar workout with Thorunn’s girly sweetness once again the perfect foil for Nick’s soaring vocals.
You can hear those two songs and more when the band hit the road next month to road test their new material. The 13-date UK tour starts in Liverpool on November 14th, calling at the following venues:
