Ok_Ma is a project by London club scene regulars Younglee and Jake Sax. After three underground dance singles featuring soul singer LeaLea Jones, they’re stepping things up for their debut album by drafting in Swedish pop wonder Lykke Li for this first taste from the forthcoming debut album. They call it “a warm, squelchy, winter 4/4 chugger”, and it’s certainly no brainless Balearic stomp with lyrics about doom, gloom and perpetual drizzle. “I’m cold, I’m lost, I’m in despair,” Lykke mourns at one point – the track’s emotional pivot – but her joyful oh-oh-oh-ohs preclude any genuine glumness seeping into your heart.
