Sara Lov
‘A Thousand Bees’

A Free Music Friday veteran, Sara Lov is perhaps best known as the vocalist from wonderfully talented duo Dévics (who are currently in a “half sleep” due to the mutual solo efforts of both members). Her cover of Arcade Fire’s ‘My Body Is A Cage’ was so popular that we thought you might like to sample an original Lov composition from her debut solo album Seasoned Eyes Were Beaming, released digitally through Nettwerk Records this week.

Sara announced her intentions to be a singer, quite matter of factly, at the tender age of six. Her complex childhood, detailed more thoroughly in her biography on the Dévics’ official site, may go some way towards explaining the sheer emotion and depth found in her music. ‘A Thousand Bees’ is heartbreak music at its most cathartic, replete with echoing, persistent piano chords crashing like waves throughout as Sara’s yearning, graceful vocals carry the song like a herald through the storm.
