Polly Scattergood’s heartily accomplished (if sometimes concerning) debut album has barely been out for 3 weeks [review] and we’ve already got new music to listen to. One of the album’s true pop gems, ‘Please Don’t Touch’ has already been marked out as the next single, and Polly’s just been shooting the video this week. This remix from (rumoured) real-life couple The Golden Filter takes the handclaps from the original chorus and generously splashes them around to make an upbeat disco number that’s big on eccentricity. A variety of synth sounds drop in and out to keep things interesting across the near-five minute mix, while the snap of crisp programmed drums is a blast out of nowhere that works. “I thank you for your kindness but there’s sadness in the air,” sings Polly, but it’s hard to feel too down about it. Brilliant fun.
