Everything Goes Wrong for Vivian Girls

After a string of 7″ releases and what seems to be at least a zillion gigs, Brooklyn-based loudmouths Vivian Girls are gearing up to release their second album, Everything Goes Wrong, on September 7th through garage-rock label In The Red Recordings. Of the 15 songs recorded for the album, 13 made the final cut and, according to drummer Ali Koehler, the songs are longer and moodier than on last year’s eponymous debut. “Last time, the album was really rushed,” guitarist Cassie Ramone told Pitchfork in March. “We were just go, go, go, go. And now we’re taking our time with every step of the process, making sure we’re really happy with everything before we move on.”

Fans of the no-frills approach of the debut shouldn’t worry that the band have glossed up, though – the self-produced album doesn’t feature any pesky guests and most of the songs were laid down in single takes. Influences apparently include Gun Club and Neil Young. Expect to hear new material if you’re heading down to see the Girls play at The Lexington in London next Friday (June 12th).
