Original songs mix with reworked traditionals to celebrate the winter solsticeOne of the year’s most unexpected releases, Tori Amos’s upcoming seasonal album Midwinter Graces, due November 9th, has been the subject of much speculation among her fans. Recorded at the behest of Universal Republic head and long-term mentor Doug Morris, the album draws on Tori’s childhood memories of playing holiday carols at her father’s Methodist church and adds 40 years’ experience to them. As well as reworkings of well known seasonal songs like ‘Coventry Carol’, ‘Star of Wonder’ and ‘Jeanette, Isabella’, a number of Amos originals also feature on the album, including ‘Pink & Glitter’ and ‘Our New Year’.
