Lower Dens
Twin-Hand Movement

[Gnomonsong; July 20]

‘Weird-fi’ artist Jana Hunter has a new musical outlet with new four-piece band, Lower Dens. The Baltimore-based project came about last year when usually-solo Hunter was gathering fellow souls to form a full-time collective. Buzzwords for their sound include “new wave”, “drone pop” and “post-punk”, and we think you’ll agree that yesterday’s free download, and the demo tracks currently up on their Myspace, are pretty darn good.

As mentioned yesterday, their upcoming record titled Twin-Hand Movement has already wrapped, completed under the recording guidance of Chris Freeland (ex-Oxes drummer; proprietor of Beat Babies, Baltimore), mixed by Chris Coady (at DNA Studios, NYC), and mastered by Sarah Register (of The Lodge, NYC, and the band Talk Normal). A US tour is in the works, with a plans to travel further afield thereafter.

First single ‘I Get Nervous’ is already out on 7” and will see a digital release on May 25. It’s backed by exclusive non-album track, ‘Johnssong’.
