In terms of structure, this freebie track from Savoir Adore’s In The Wooded Forest (out this week) probably stands as one of the duo’s more straightforward tunes, though nonetheless inviting. Paul Hammer opens the track with his clear and engaging vocals, which truly soar on the bridge before breaking into a singalong indie-pop chorus. Taking over on lead, Deirdre Muro comes in solo on the second verse and chorus with a more restrained but beautifully affecting vocal. The track reaches its true peak, however, when both voices blend together, complemented by some light electronics for a giddy rush of a finale. While the lyrics don’t exactly paint a bright and breezy picture, ‘Honestly’ still effectively manages to raise the spirits and provides a solid introduction to the band’s excellent first full-length.
