In case you hadn’t heard, just when it looked as if the six-year gap between the release of 1999′s When The Pawn… and 2005′s Extraordinary Machine might seem like the blink of an eye in the wait for Fiona Apple’s next album, drummer and co-producer Charley Drayton recently broke the news in an interview with Modern Drummer magazine that the Manhattan-born singer-songwriter was back in the studio preparing for a Spring 2011 release. Watch this space for more info.

We most recently heard Fiona duetting with Margaret Cho on her star-studded Cho-Dependent, released in August, and before that, in May, contributing a track to Chickens In Love, a benefit album for creative writing charity 826LA.
