The Go! Team
‘T.O.R.N.A.D.O.’

Climate change experts predict that the UK will see an increasing number of tornadoes in the years to come, perhaps ensuring that Thomas Cook will one day start doing trips to the Emerald City of Oz without the worry of unreliable transportation. For those of us who can’t wait for chartered trips to Munchkinland how about the new song from The Go! Team? ‘T.O.R.N.A.D.O’ is the first to pop from the London crew’s long-awaited third album Rolling Blackouts, out January 31 through Memphis Industries, and listening to it is certainly a whirlwind of an experience. This is everything that we expect and love about The Go! Team squashed into two riotous minutes of madness best spent hands aloft and dancing on the table with your gran.

“It’s our answer to the ‘Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3′,” says band leader Ian Parton (for those not familiar with this book and the films it spawned, think hostages, violence, guns and Walter Mattau) of the dizzying, Ninja-led and brassy number. It all bodes rather well for Rolling Blackouts after 2007′s disappointing Proof Of Youth, not least with the news that the album features guest vocals from the exciting likes of Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, Dominique Young Unique, Satomi Matsuzaki of Deerhoof and French balladeer Julie Margat (aka Lispector).
