Rye Rye
‘Sunshine’

You might have peeped Ryeisha Berrain, aka Rye Rye, in the video for MIA’s ‘Paper Planes’. The Baltimore-born artist first caught Ms Arulpragasm’s ear with her 2006 underground dance hit ‘Shake It To The Ground’, and in 2008 became the first signing to her Interscope imprint, N.E.E.T Recordings (also home to the mighty Sleigh Bells). Rye Rye has since worked with a number of big-name producers, including The Neptunes, Diplo and Crookers, and her debut album Go! Pop! Bang! is expected to drop in January. The MIA-featuring ‘Sunshine’ is the first single to be lifted from said LP, and the accompanying video is suitably hued. Low basslines, lace gloves, cut-off denim shorts and lazy feel-good vibes? Perfect.
