Shirley Manson confirms Garbage reunion is on

Back in February of this year, when Shirley Manson casually dropped the news that she had spent a week in the studio with Garbage bandmates Duke Erikson, Steve Marker and Butch Vig, our inner ’90s teen allowed themselves a hopeful squeal for a proper follow-up album to 2005′s not-half-bad Bleed Like Me [review]. Speaking to the Herald Scotland while she and new husband Billy Bush gave advice to music students in Paisley, Shirley confirmed that such a thing was indeed in the works. “I’m working on a record right now with the band. We’ve recorded quite a lot but it’s difficult to quantify,” she said. “It’s the first one in a long time. I took about five years off. I’d like to do some touring next year.”

Nothing as concrete as a title or release date is available yet, nor even a description of what the new songs sound like. “We’re just winging it right now,” Shirley admitted.
