La Roux’s Elly Jackson may have proclaimed that electro-pop is “over” in a chat with The Guardian earlier this week, but she clearly hasn’t been listening to the likes of MNDR, less well known as the duo of Amanda Warner and producer Peter Wade. Their debut EP, E.P.E., hit iTunes in April and was swiftly followed up by the reputation cementing ‘Bang Bang Bang’, a collaboration with Mark Ronson & The Business Intl, but this new mix of a track that’s been floating around a while takes their sound to another level of awesomeness. So while Jackson admits to yearning for a “more open, warmer” experience for the next La Roux album, MNDR is unashamedly piling on the iciness here, Warner’s Krautrock-inspired vocal sexy yet defiantly detached. We may go weak at the knees when MNDR drop by XOYO on November 24 to play their first headlining UK show. Tickets available here.
