Tom Brosseau and Angela Correa, collectively known as Les Shelleys, release their self-titled debut album next week, and have recently announced a second single from the album to coincide with their co-headlining tour with labelmates Gregory & The Hawk later this month. Out November 29, the A-side ‘The World Is Waiting For The Sunrise’ is the latest in a long line of covers (including versions by The Beatles and Duke Ellington) of Gene Lockhart and Ernest Seitz’s original 1918 composition, while B-side ‘Oh Babe, It Ain’t No Lie’ reprises Elizabeth Cotten’s ‘Oh Babe, It Ain’t No Lie’ from her 1958 Smithsonian Folkways debut.
As previously reported, Les Shelleys and Gregory & The Hawk play the following UK dates this month:
18.11.10 Brixton Windmill, London
20.11.10 The Albert, Brighton (matinee show)
21.11.10 Undertone, Cardiff
22.11.10 Night & Day Café, Manchester
23.11.10 Oporto, Leeds
Les Shelleys will play an additional date without Gregory & The Hawk on November 28, venue to be announced.
