Due out early next year to coincide with a another run of European shows (TBA), ‘Surrender’ is the third single to be lifted from Ólöf Arnalds’ near-perfect Innundir Skinni. Featuring backing vocals from none other than Björk, it’s a bit of a stunner, as is the accompanying video, shot on location in an Icelandic national park.
As Ólöf explains, “This video was directed by Arni & Kinski. We were keen for the location not to look specific to Iceland and found a perfect spot in in Iceland’s Þingvellir National Park. The piece was shot sequentially on Super 8 on what turned into an extremely cold and rainy day. I think the challenging weather conditions took the video to an interesting place, adding intensity and darkness. The video features choreography by Damien Jalet and Erna Ómarsdóttir and as it was my first experience with dance, it required Damien and I to practice routines and inserts for a couple of hours each day for two weeks leading up to the shoot.”
