
[Asthmatic Kitty; February 21]
The success of experimental songwriter Julianna Barwick’s Florine EP in 2009 led to a signing with Sufjan Stevens’s Asthmatic Kitty Records, a vinyl reissue of her debut album Sanguine through M’Lady’s Records, and shows across the US and Europe. The Magic Place, her first Asthmatic Kitty release, is said to have a fuller sound than its predecessors with “more backing instrumentation”. To get some idea of where it all began, pay a visit to Asthmatic Kitty to snag two demos that don’t appear on the final tracklist below.
