Austra + Viv Albertine’s Limerence + Daughter
The Windmill, London [January 17, 2011]

What do Elena Tonra (aka Daughter), Viv Albertine and Austra all have in common? One correct answer is that we’ve featured every one of them in our Free Music Fridays; another, and most likely the only other, is that all three played on the same bill last night at The Windmill in Brixton. Oh wait, a third one is that our intrepid photographer Anika Mottershaw photographed all of them in said venue at said time. Here they are for your viewing pleasure.

Headliners Austra are the new guise of Toronto artist Katie Stelmanis, who appears to have undergone a radical image change. Just signed to Domino Records, their debut EP The Beat & The Pulse is out on February 21.

Austra play a free show at The Old Blue Last in London tonight (see you there?) and are supporting Hercules & Love Affair at Heaven on Wednesday.

This band is wonderful! Like a mixture of Folrence + The Machine and Crystal Castles. Absoloutly brilliant!
