Easily the most accessible track on last year’s excellent and extremely loud Treats, Sleigh Bells showed their popper side with the fantastic ‘Rill Rill’. Clearly keen to dispel any talk that they’ve gone soft, the band have made sure that the accompanying video is anything but. What starts as a fun drive through the desert quickly takes a turn for the more sinister as Alexis Krauss shoves her unconscious and apparently seriously injured band mate Derek Miller out of a moving car. The strange clip also features a bleeding phone and Krauss posing for some seriously bitchin’ yearbook pictures in a deserted high school. Entertaining and freaky in equal amounts.
The duo played a couple of shows in the UK this month and are back for more very soon, including a Valentine’s Day gig at London’s Heaven with MEN and Teeth. What’s more romantic than sweaty dancing and bleeding ears? Oddly, ‘Rill Rill’ is not the band’s new single here in the UK. That honour goes to album track ‘Riot Rhythm’, out February 14 in a digital bundle with a remix from Diplo. There’s a pretty cool fan-made unofficial video right here.
