Didn't like 'Director's Cut' much at all. Nothing improves the original cuts... Read my full thoughts here: http://realgonerocks.blogspot.com/2011/05/kate-bush-directors-cut.html

Perhaps spending less time comparing the 11 tracks here to the originals and more on how the collection works in its own context (which it does, well) would have helped?

Sure, this is an album very much for 'Kate Bush', rather than for 'Kate Bush Fans'. But hours could be spent hair-splitting between these and the originals, but that'd only be time wasted that could be better spent appreciating the finer details this album exudes by the bucket load.

In lieu of a live outlet for newer versions of these tracks to ever surface, the album is a fascinating insight into how such an artist views the more difficult areas of her catalogue. If this were an actual live album, or even an album of covers by other artists, less hang-ups would be made over the comparisons and more appreciation given to how the material itself stands alone. This album easily deserves that same acknowledgement. Not because it's "Kate's new album!" But simply because it stands on it's own more than well enough.

As more time goes by between each release, a rare moment of Kate feeling nostalgic on an album should, if anything, be even more of a reason to leave nostalgia at the door when analysing any new project of hers. The Kate of "now" will always be the most fascinating yet, even if it is based on the Kate of yester-year. Too bad many can't seem to accept that artists change, get older and have may have personal scores to settle.

Agree generally but a little bit harsh maybe? I, over all, like it as an intersting thing to have and think 'never be mine' in particular is really special.

Defintely agree that 'This Womans work' is just a 'not as good' new version and the choice of tracks to re-imagine from 'The Red Shoes' does seem odd as its all the best ones anyway.

Actually my only disagreement might be that I quite like the Stones-y 'Rubberband Girl' and nobody else seems to!
