free music monday: purity ring

Given the amount of internet buzz that Purity Ring have earned, it’s amazing that ‘Belispeak’ is only the third song that we’ve heard from the duo. Following the infectious pop of ‘Ungirthed’ and the, well, loftier sound of ‘Lofticries’, the track puts greater emphasis on Megan James’s vocals, cleaning them up as a melee of syncopated beats and quasi-mystical synths surge below. The track also has an unofficial but band-approved video, which you can peep below.

‘Belispeak’ will feature on an upcoming split 7″ with friends and fellow Canadians BRAIDS, whose offering is the previously unreleased ‘Peach Wedding’. The split vinyl drops October 20.
