Robots In Disguise + Rubicks
XOYO, London [July 27, 2011]

There was no place to hide at XOYO tonight when Robots In Disguise steamrolled into London fore the penultimate show of their latest UK tour. Showcasing tracks from their second album, The Rise Of The Giddy (out August 8), London electro-rock outfit Rubicks charged the room with an intense and confident display, singer/guitarist Vanessa Anne Redd writhing around the stage and staring like a woman possessed. With the tone appropriately set, Robots In Disguise took to the stage to deliver a no-nonsense, energetic performance of their own particular brand of electro-punk. Their loyal following got their money’s worth as the mainstay duo of Dee Plume and Sue Denim, supported by Gemma Hill on drums, got up front and personal with the audience on a number of occasions, encouraging them to sing or scream along to songs from their latest release, Happiness V Sadness, and old favourites like ‘I’m Hit’, ‘Turn It Up’ and ‘The Sex Has Made Me Stupid’. Wears The Trousers was in the thick of the action, propping up Plume and Denim as they surfed above the delighted crowd. Martyn Leung managed to snap some pictures in amongst the mayhem.
