Janelle Monáe to release instrumental version of The ArchAndroid

August 1, 2011 by Alan Pedder in Blog

Janelle Monáe revealed on Twitter on Saturday that she is planning to release an instrumental version of her 2010 debut album, The ArchAndroid, and that she has completed some of the work on a follow-up. “New music is/has been done,” she wrote, but gave no further details, though she recently revealed to MTV that “This album will have very strong concepts and bigger ideas and the music will just go forward to another level. It will still be, I believe, relatable to the people. We have really big ideas, I must say, and we’re just trying to make sure we execute them properly.”

Besides that, Janelle is guesting on the new albums from homegrown R&B star Estelle – the long-awaited follow-up to her Mercury Prize-nominated 2008 debut, Shine – and returning collaborator Big Boi.
