With their Pledge Music campaign proving to be a huge success over the summer (though we should add that it’s not yet too late to show it some love), ’80s-loving pop duo Summer Camp have been full of good news this week. First came details of their debut album, Welcome To Condale, and now they’ve gone and announced their first UK headline tour.
Out on Hallowe’en via the band’s own imprint Apricot Recording Co., in conjunction with Moshi Moshi Records, the album sports songs both new and old. First single ‘Better Off Without You’ (out September 12) kicks things off nicely, and anyone who’s familiar with Elizabeth Sankey’s obsession with ’80s teen TV and movies won’t be surprised to find a song named after ‘My So-Called Life’ character Brian Krakow on the tracklist. Favourites like ‘I Want You’ and – going right back to their early days – ’Summer Camp’ and the dreamy ‘Ghost Train’ are other welcome inclusions. We’re big fans of all the vintage photos they’ve been using in their artwork so far, so we can’t wait to see what the packaging looks like.
