Electronic music pioneer Bob Moog was a major hero of analogue synth lover Tara Busch, so she’s understandably delighted to announce that her just-released new three-song EP, Rocket Wife, is helping to raise funds for the great man’s charitable foundation. Not only that, but she’s launched a remix contest for fellow Moog enthusiasts and electronic adventurers to indulge in creating their own version of the EP’s title track.
“They have several wonderful causes that they are working toward, one of which resonates with me (pardon the pun) in particular – Dr. Bob’s Sound School. Aimed at bringing Moog instruments into schools across the United States to teach children science through synthesis, I feel this program will bring a much needed bleep and blast of beauty, logic and wonder into our lives, providing an ‘intersection of science and music’,” writes Tara on her blog. You can read about her thoughts on the subject in more detail over at the foundation’s website, as well as track descriptions for each of the songs.
Both the EP and the set of ‘Rocket Wife’ stems are available on Bandcamp priced at $4.99 each, with all proceeds going to the Bob Moog Foundation. Completed remixes should be uploaded to a special Soundcloud group by midnight on October 15. Three winners will be announced on November 10, with a grand prize winner receiving a framed, limited edition archival image of Bob Moog, a selection of Bob Moog Foundation merchandise, and the opportunity to collaborate virtually with Tara on a track where she will supply vocals and synth soundscapes. All three winners will have their remix posted on the Foundation’s Bandcamp where it will be available for sale.
