Originally packaged with the deluxe edition of her third album As Day Follows Night back in her native Australia, Sarah Blasko’s EP of covers of her favourite songs from musical films is getting a long-overdue UK release on October 3 to mark the beginning of her previously reported autumn acoustic tour. Whereas its original 2009 release went by the name of Cinema Blasko the UK version will be titled simply Cinema Songs, but the tracklist remains the same: ‘Seems Like Old Times’ from ‘Annie Hall’, ‘Something Good’ from ‘The Sound Of Music’, ‘Maybe This Time’ from ‘Cabaret’,'Out Here On My Own’ from ‘Fame’ and ‘Xanadu’ from ‘Xanadu’.
Of the recordings, Sarah says, “It’s really very straightforward. A piano, a voice and a room. You could imagine you were in a tiny, smoky old piano bar and it would probably be close to the sound we were trying to achieve.”
