Ultimate Dusty Springfield boxset announced

September 26, 2011 by Alan Pedder in Blog

Boasting a whopping twenty-two previously unreleased tracks (plus five more never before available on CD) across four CDs, Universal Music’s lavish new Dusty Springfield boxset, Goin’ Back: The Definitive Dusty Springfield, promises to be an absolute treasure trove for fans. Among the gems on the CDs, which are divided thematically into ‘hits’, ‘rarities’, ‘BBC recordings’ and ‘work for stage and screen’, are a ‘stripped down’ recording of the classic ‘Goin’ Back’ and a new vocal mix of ‘The Look Of Love’ crafted from the Abbey Road masters by producer Tris Penna.

The set also includes a trio of DVDs featuring ninety-eight performances, thirty-two of which are previously unreleased on DVD. Completing the package are four photo prints and two hardback books: Paul Howe’s acclaimed The Complete Dusty Springfield, plus a new sixty-page volume featuring an essay by Dusty’s manager and friend Vicki Wareham and testimonies from artists such as Carole King, Annie Lennox, Burt Bacharach, Tom Jones, Neil Tennant and Smokey Robinson, plus an additional essay by soul historian Lois Wilson.

An online-only limited edition also includes an exclusive hand-numbered canvas print of Dusty and retails at £119.99. Both versions go on sale on October 31.
