INCOMING | Black Bananas — Rad Times Xpress IV

November 3, 2011 by Alan Pedder in Blog

Black Bananas
Rad Times Xpress IV

[Drag City; January 30]

Black Bananas aren’t a new band. They’ve already released three albums on Drag City as RTX, a project which sprang from the ashes of Royal Trux following their 2001 split. What the name change represents, then, is something of a fresh outlook for Jennifer Herrema and co.; or, as the label put it, a chance “to flip the script, to kick open the doors of perception a little bit.”

By way of an introduction to Black Bananas ahead of January’s release of their ‘debut’ album Rad Times Xpress IV, the band recruited Kurt Vile for an amped-up duet cover of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Before They Make Me Run’ from 1978′s Some Girls, which you can stream over at Pitchfork.

Tracklist:
01 It’s Cool
02 TV Trouble
03 Acid Song
04 Hot Stupid
05 RTX Gogo
06 Do It
07 Rad Times
08 My House
09 Foxy Playground
10 Earthquake
11 Overpass
12 Night Walker
13 Killer Weed
