Bethany Cosentino shares new Best Coast album details

January 10, 2012 by Charlotte Richardson Andrews in Blog

Bethany Cosentino revealed in a new interview with Pitchfork that she wants her second album to help shed her image as a “stoner, cat-loving girl,” describing the writing of the as yet untitled record as “the first step to the more grown-up me.”

The band, who recently parted ways with drummer Ali Koehler under contested circumstances, are currently recording with producer Jon Brion (Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann) at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, which Cosentino describes as “the kind of place you dream about recording.”

Cosentino also told Pitchfork that the record is rather “emo” in places, citing new track ‘When I Cry’ as one of her favourite tracks. Read the full interview here.
