VIDEO | Fatima Al Qadiri — ‘How Can I Resist U’

January 24, 2012 by Alan Pedder in Blog

Fatima Al Qadiri
‘How Can I Resist U’

First shown at the release party for Fatima Al Qadiri’s 2011 EP Genre-Specific Xperience, this Sophia Al-Maria-directed video for EP track ‘How Can I Resist You’ is a heady rush of forbidden pleasures, “interspersed with YouTube footage of Ma’alaya dances specific to Gulf countries like UAE and Oman—the super cars, dancing girls and brutalist council estates in the video are part of the down-and-dirty dream that a trip to London signifies for Khaleejis (Gulf Arabs).”

As for the song itself, the Kuwait-born Al Qadiri describes it as “a love letter to London in general” and to “dubstep (before it wobbled)”.
