MP3 | Alabama Shakes — ‘Heavy Chevy’

Alabama Shakes
‘Heavy Chevy’

Rough Trade signings Alabama Shakes play the last gig of a three-night stint at London’s Boston Arms tonight, but you won’t have to wait too long for them to come back to the UK to dole out some more of their energetic fusion of blues, gospel, soul and rock as they are back in May for a run of seven shows (dates below). The Athens, Georgia quartet are fronted by the impressive Brittany Howard, whose raucous, soulful vocals feel big enough to fill out stadiums, let alone a church tent revival, so catch them while they’re still playing small venues.

03.05.12 Brixton Electric, London
05.05.12 Academy 2, Dublin
06.05.12 Kilkenny Roots Festival, Kilkenny
09.05.12 King Tuts, Glasgow
10.05.12 Deaf Institute, Manchester
11.05.12 HMV Institute, Birmingham
12.05.12 Komedia, Brighton

The band’s debut album Boys & Girls is out April 9, but preview track ‘Heavy Chevy’ should tide y’all over till then. Grab it below or over at the official Alabama Shakes website.
