Carrie Brownstein – co-frontwoman/co-lead guitarist of Wild Flag, co-creator/co-star/co-writer/co-executive producer of ‘Portlandia’, and former co-leader of Sleater-Kinney – is to write a memoir. According to The New York Times, Brownstein has signed a publishing deal with Riverhead/Penguin to write a book about her life in the music industry, as a fan, guitarist and comedienne.
It’s not the only book we can expect from Brownstein either: PORTLANDIA: A Guide For Visitors, penned alongside comedy partner Fred Armisen, is due on November 20. The tome is said to be a traditional travel guide to Portland, written in the voices of some of the show’s quirky residents. Carrie’s memoir is currently lacking a title and a release date, but still – yippee! Not to get ahead of ourselves, but there’s an approximately 99.99% chance that this is going to be awesome (see sentence one for verification).
Speaking of awesome, here’s yet another wonderful live cover by Wild Flag on tour that continues their tradition of making great songs even better. This time the track in question is Fugazi’s ‘Margin Walker’, taken from the 1989 EP of the same name.
