STREAM | Ane Brun & The Star Vox Ensemble — ‘Queen & King’

April 21, 2012 by Alan Pedder in Blog

Ane Brun has a few people she’d like you to meet. “They are all friends of mine,” she tells Wears The Trousers about the Star Vox Ensemble, who join her on new track ‘Queen & King’. “I sent an email to everyone inviting them to the studio saying that we were gonna have a party but that we were also going to record a song. We had this amazing fun party and this was the result!”

Regular readers of Wears The Trousers should already be familiar with the likes of Jennie Abrahamson, Asha Ali, Linnea Olsson, Britta Persson, Nina Kinert and Elin Ruth Sigvardsson, who all appear on the song. Faroese singer-songwriter Teitur also features in the Ensemble, as does Dag För Dag’s Jacob Snavely, with the rest of the cast rounded out by Amalie Karijord Stokke, Fay Hau Wildhagen, Sarah Lindroth, Frida Stadell, Lisa Lindal, Sara Wilson, Anja Bigrell and Anja Tegman Bigrell.

‘Queen & King’ is taken from the 2CD deluxe edition of It All Starts With One, available from Monday. It also features gorgeous covers of Built To Spill’s ‘I Would Hurt A Fly’, Antony & The Johnsons’ ‘Another World’ and Ariel Ramirez’s ‘Alfonsina Y El Mar’, as well as four Ane originals.

Catch Ane, Jennie, Linnea and the rest of the band on tour this week. Linnea supports on both dates. Gemma Ray (who, incidentally, featured alongside Ane on our Odetta tribute album) also supports in London.

27.04.12 Vicars Street, Dublin
28.04.12 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London

In other news, Ane guests on the debut album from Little Gang (Jacob Snavely, Rebekka Karijord and Erik Nilsson), Half Of Everything, which gets a UK release on June 4.
