VIDEO | Classic Hole lineup reunites at aftershow party

April 18, 2012 by Charlotte Richardson Andrews in Blog

Patty Schemel’s documentary ‘Hit So Hard‘, about her turbulent years as drummer for Hole, was a standout feature at the 2012 London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival last month. As the promotional tour for the film continued its route through the US something wonderful happened as attendees at an aftershow party for the documentary at Brooklyn club Public Assembly were treated to a reunion of the classic mid-’90s Hole lineup.

At first it looked like Schemel (drums), Eric Erlandson (guitar) and Melissa Auf der Maur (bass) – collectively billed as Trinity Jam – would perform alone, but Courtney Love later joined the trio to perform two songs: ‘Miss World’ from 1994′s Live Through This and a cover of The Wipers’ ‘Over The Edge’, which the band originally covered on a 1992 tribute album.

Since Love began touring and recording under the Hole name with a new all-male lineup a few years ago, in the face of very public opposition from Erlandson and apparent bemusement from Auf der Maur, fans had all but given up hope of seeing the classic Hole foursome reunite.

Those who weren’t privy to the show may enjoy the footage below.
