A Christmas song that captures the madness of the season

December has been a really busy month that hasn’t left a lot of time for getting ready for Christmas. We’ve got a long list of festive songs in our inbox to get through before Tuesday to make the perfect playlist, and what better to way to start than with this Wears The Trousers exclusive download of a wintry collaboration between Anja McCloskey and Josephh Kelly of Etao Shin.

In Anja’s own words:

“Etao Shin and I have been labelmates at Sotones Records for quite some time now, and we have more than our love for music in common. Etao Shin lead singer Joseph Kelly also plays double bass in my band. This has led to us playing on each other’s recordings, doing a tour of bookshops in the UK together in April, and generally spending a lot of time together. It seemed inevitable that one day we should write and record a song together. As a farewell present to my going to the US for a little while, we thought that Christmas would present such an opportune moment. The song was written entirely together. Joe and I came up with the chords, melodies, harmonies and lyrics as a team, and we recorded it in our respective flats in Southampton. Neither of us take Christmas very seriously, and we wanted to create a Christmas song that captures the madness of the season.”
